TUTAEKURI DIVERSION
Closing the Old Channel GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE Good progress is being made with the work of closing off the old channel of the Tutaekuri river, and favoured by fine weather it should be completed in the period indicated at a publicmeeting of settlers at Meeanec in February last.
The base of the new bank from Powdrell’s road now reaches the old waterway. The temporary bridge across the river at the intake of the diversion channel was completed early last week, since when the teams working on the south side have been engaged in erecting the new bank on the south side of the waterway. With the efforts that are now being concentrated on this work both the sections of the new bank should be soon linked up by the banking across of the waterway, which is about nine feet below the level of the berms.
During the holidays, the work was inspected by a number of the settlers, who expressed themselves as being well satisfied with tho progress made
