DROWNED WHILE FISHING

Swept off Rock by Wave Ry Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 3. Mr Joseph Cole, aged about 30, of Allen street, Christchurch, was swept off a rock while fishing at Birdling’s Flat on Monday evening and was drowned. A friend who was with him threw out a line, hut Nfr Cole was unable to grasp it. The accident occurred at high tide when heavy seas were breaking against the rocks on which the men were fishing. Mr Cole’s body has not yet been km covered
