NEWS BREVITIES.

James Ogden Alexander, described in the charge sheet as an engraver and signwriter, was remanded in the Napier Police Court this morning on the charge of forging and uttering a cheque, to the value of £5 ss, at Wairoa on August 18, 1933. Messrs A. E. Bedford and F. J Annan. J.P.’s, were on the bench Mrs Susan Justin, residing at Cole street, Dunedin, was admitted to hospital with a fractured thigh-bone and concussion the result of a collision between two motor-cycles. She was in the side-car of a machine that was being towed by a car. Referring to Mr. M. J. Savage's suggestion (up; aring on page 8) of an early election and implied dissension in Cabinet, tho Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said that no doubt the idea was very dear to Mr. Savage’s heart, but he agreed with the Prime Minister that the wish was father to the th ught.
