METHODIST CAMP
VERY HAPPY GATHERING Spirit of Fellowship Shown SPORTS AT TOMOANA Though one of the smallest Bible Class camps held in this district, the Methodist Young Men’s Camp held at Tomoana was a very happy one. A fine spirit of fellowship prevailed throughout the camp, and the spiritual tone was very high indeed. Future Hawke’s Bay camps will find it difficult to exceed it in the social and spiritual spheres. The camp captain was the Rev. E. T. Olds, of Napier and the chairman of the executive, Mr. J. H. Oldham, of Napier. Forty-seven young men were present in camp. Mr. Walter Carman, a member of the New Zealand executive of the Methodist Bible Class movement, was among the campers and was of great assistance. Several very impressive services were held. The Rev. R. B. Gosnell, of Hastings, conducted a Thanksgiving service on Good Friday morning. At this service the thanksofferings of tho various classes in the district were received. The usual camp missionary meeting was held in the evening. Ihe Rev. H. li. Jeffreys, of Dannevirke, was the speaker, and a special collection foi foreign missions was taken uPOn Easter Sunday, services were conducted by Mr. C. H. Bisson, of Napier, and the Rev. D. C. Alley, of Greenmeadows. At the close of the evening service, the communion and fellowship meeting were held under the guidance of the Rev. E. T. Olds.
Elocutionary competitions amongst the campers were held on Good Friday and Saturday evening. Mr. W. E. Bate, of Hastings and Mr. Walter Carman, of Wellington, acted as judges. An excellent programme of sports and games was arranged for Saturday and Monday. Mr. A. Clough, of Napier, acted as convenor of the sports committee. A great many visitors from Hastings and Napier were present at the sports and camp concert on Saturday. ji'he convenors of the various committees thank the H.B. A. and P.
