ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT EXCELLENT MARKSMANSHIP CHAMPION BELT TO OPAKI The 26th annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Rifle Association was held on the Napier rifle range. Excellent entries were received, and the weather conditions were ideal. In consequence, the marksmanship was of an exceptionally high standard. Scores of 47 out of 50 in the 300yards match and 48 out of 50 in the 500-yards match were not good enough to participate in the prize-money. The Champion Belt was won by H. King, of the Masterton-Opaki Rifle Club after a shoot-off with R. Nicholson, of the Napier club. The latter was run-ner-up for the fourth time. The champion teams match was won by the Napier team, consisting of F. H. James, A. Hyde, R. Nicholson and S.S.M. J. H. Kearney. The Okawa team, consisting of J. Sim, R. McCarthy, Capt. A. Neilson and W. J. Burton, were runners-up. .Third place was gained by the Napier No. 2 team, consisting of L. E. Braithwaite, B. Bitters, G. Eyles and J. Munro.
