SOUNDS BUSH FIRES
Beautiful Reserves Damaged (By Telegraph—Presa Association.) BLENHEIM, March 17. The abnormally dry season has resulted in a further series of bush fires in many of the beautiful Marlborough Sounds reserves. Fitzgerald’s Bay has been burned out. Edgecombe Point, at the entrance to Endeavour Inlet, has been partly burned and the fire is still raging. The well-known Double Bay reserve wks saved only after a desperate fight. The Picton Hill reserve at the back of the town was partly burned. The department is urging settlers not to burn their grass country in the vicinity of the reserves in such an abnormal season.
