Recently the Napier Chamber of Commerce expressed its disapproval of the manner in which the east coast of the North Island was deprived of its due proportion of tourist traffic. A resolution was passed to have the secretary communicate with shipping companies, the Government Tourist Department and oversea tourist agencies. Last night the Chamber held its monthly meeting, and the subject again was raised. The president, Mr W. Harvey, said ho was sorry to find that Rotorua seemed to have misinterpreted the Napier Chamber’s views and he understood that the true outlook of Napier people was to be made clear to the people of Rotorua. Since almost the day on which the .Napier wool sale iu January brought higher prices to the farmers, there has been great activity among car salesmen and insurance companies Many farmers who had “put up with” their old cars till the time had long since passed when their machines were really efficient, 'found that with the substantial credits placed against their names, it was permissible (or them to arrange demonstrations with motor car agencies. One insurance agent in Napier says that the average person would be a mazed at the car sales figures—if they could be published, and he proffered the information that both insurance agencies and automobile firms in the town hud been busier than for many months.
