THE AUTUMN SHOW

A GREAT SUCCESS Large Crowd Attends BEAUTIFUL WEATHER Though figtires of attendance and gate-takings at the Autumn Show yesterday are not yet available, there can be no doubt that the day was in every respect a great success. Indeed, statistics are not necessary to gauge the value and the pleasure of such an event, but rather the extent and the variety of interest and instruction offered to the farmer as a specialist, and to the man in the street as one who looks upon the show as nothing more than an enjoyable outing. In both respects the show yesterday served its purpose admirably, and could hardly have been improved upon even in the smaller details. Tho weather was perfect, the grounds had never looked better. There was an immense variety of interest in the exhibits, and every section had its own group of admirers throughout the day. Entries in the competition sections, such as the horse events and the dogtrials, were unusually numerous, and some of the performances were splendid. The attendance of the Napier Technical Boys’ Band and the Highland Pipe Band did much to add to the pleasantness of the day, and their playing and inarching were greatly admired, and applauded accordingly. Some hundreds of people availed themselves of the opportunity of walking through the grounds of Waikoko. and of admiring the perfectly-kept lawns, the masses of flowers, and the loveliness of the old trees, That part of the show was by no means the least enjoyable.
