Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., has been elected president of the Municipal Association. The next conference will be at Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. S. Woodham, of Island Bay, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. Carrell, of Hastings, returned home by the mail train this morning. Mr. J. Miller, S.M., of Masterton, has been appointed judge of the Assessment Court for the farm-land list for the borough of Waipawa. Mr. D. G. Grant, of Mangatoro, and Mr. F. Craven, of Dannevirke, have been appointed members of the Assessment Court for the farm-land list for Dannevirke. Mr S. L. P. Free, S.M., of Masterton, was a visitor at the Hastings Rotary Club’s luncheon to-day. Mr Free xjas the first New Zealand vice-president of Rotary International. Sissons, supervisor of the clerical branch of the Chief Post Office, Napier, late ’of the Hastings Post Office, has been promoted to the position of supervisor of the clerical branch at Dunedin.
