Kidnappers Kill Accomplice REFUSED TO HELP FRIENDS By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright CHICAGO, March 14. Basil Banghart, a member of the Touhy gang, whose testimony was largely responsible for the conviction of Roger Touhy for the Factor kidnapping, was himself convicted on the same charge to-day and sentenced to 99 years’ imprisonment. Charles (“ice wagon”) Connors, another member of the gang and for a long time a fugitive from justice on a I charge of aiding in the Factor kidnapping, was murdered to-day by fellow gangsters, supposedly because he re fused to contribute his share of the recent bank robbery loot to the legal defence fund to fight the kidnapping cases against Touhy, Banghart, and others A message from Mason City, lowa, states that seven machine gun bandits raided a bank and stole 52.000 dollars. They used the customary device of taking a hostage to covert their escape.
