RUGBY MEETINGS

PREPARING FOR 1934 SEASON TECHNICAL 0.8.’s MEETING LARGE ATTENDANCE The annual general meeting of the Napier Technical 0.8. Football Club was held last evening, Mr F. Whitley presiding over a large attenance. The annual report, published yesterday morning, and balance sheet were read and adopted. The latter showed that the club had a cash balance of £53 6s 4d. MEETING. OFFICERS ELECTED. Mr W. T. Foster presided over an attendance of some 60 members and supporters of the Napier ‘H.5.0.8. Football Club at the annual meeting of the club in the Foresters’ Hall last evening. The report and balance-sheet showed the club to be in a good position, both with regard to matches won and finance. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr F. G. FOOTBALL IN HAVELOCK. SENIOR TEAM ENTERED. The annual general meeting of the Havelock North Football Club was held in the Town Board Hall last evening, Mr D. O’Brien presiding over a good attendance of members and supporters. The annual report and balancesheet were read and considered very satisfactory, the latter disclosing a credit balance of £l4 9/5. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — Patron," Mr J. Barron; president, Mr F. Newrick; vice-presidents, Messrs D. O’Brien, Adam Bell, S. Morgan, John Chambers, H. E. Sturge, H. R. Elder, A. Toop, C. White, O. Upton, B. Smith, E. J. Wall, K. C. White, N. F. Rigby, Archdeacon McLean; delegates to Hastings Rugby Sub-Union, Messrs E. J. Wall and G. Hook; secretary, Mr G. Hook; treasurer, Mr D. O’Brien; elnn captain, Mr H. McDonald; management committee, Messrs C. D. Panekhurst, E. F. Leicester, E. J. Wall, C. Meads, J. B. Duke, L. Cooper; coaches, Mr H. MacDonald (senior), Mr D. O’Brien (junior), Mr C. Meads (thirds); travelling manager, Mr L. Cooper. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to enter three teams in the Hastings Rugby Sub-Union’s competitions, the teams to be senior, junior and third grade. Subscriptions were fixed at 7/6 for senior players, 6/- juniors and 4/- thirds, these amounts to include insurance. The question of football being played on the Domain was left in the hands of the management committee to decide and to make arrangements with the Town Board. A practice will be held for all grades on Saturday next on the club’s practice ground on the Hastings road. All members were asked to make a special effort to attend, as it is hoped to form the various teams that day.
