Report to H.B. Board STAFF RE-ARRANGEMENTS The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board was held yesterday afternoon, • present Messrs C. O. Morse (chairman), A. E. Bedford, C. Lassen, C. Duff, S. J. McKee, N. P. Eriksen, H. V. Hoadley, Drs. H. M. Wilson and J. Allan Berry. During February a total of 79 males and 38 females were admitted to the Napier Hospital; 92 males and 75 iomules were discharged; four males and three females died, leaving in the institution 79 males and 72 females. Infectious and contagious cases wore admitted as under: Phthisis 4, scarlet fever 3, puerperal fever 1, erysipelas 1. A total of 168 eases were treated in the outpatients’ department, of which 84 were new applications. Operations were performed as follow: —Major 37, minor 31, total 68. At McHardy Home twelve babies were born during the month. At the Memorial Hospital Hastings nine males and nine females were admitted, 14 males and 20 females were discharged, leaving in the institution 13 males and 12 females A total of 147 cases were treated in the outpatients department. Operations were performed ns follows: —Major 13, minor 28, making a total of 41. In tho maternity ward 20 babies were born. The matron, Miss L. M. Cruft, reported as follows:— “Sister Powley and Staff-Nurses Tait and Sharpe are on annual leave. The health of the staff has been good. The following re-arrangement of staff lias been necessary owing to tho absence of Sister Sellar for six months: Sister Robb, in charge of tho Hastings General Hospital; Sister Borlase, aciing night sister. Napier Hospital; Staff-Nurse Spcnsley, acting Sister-ln-charge of shelters temporarily. “I wish to acknowledge with thanks the following gifts: Two cases peaches for Children’s Ward —Mr Gemmers; flowers, Miss E. King and Mr F. Ormond. We are also indebted to Mrs P. Sorrell for having brought a concert party to Coleman Ward on the evening of February 24th. A variety of musical and vocal items were given and much enjoyed by patients and staff. Also, on the evening of February 28th the “Double Fours” company of Hastings gave a variety programme in Midgley Ward. This also was much appreciated and enjoyed.
