HOSPITAL INSTRUMENTS
Additions at Hastings LIST MADE ONWRONG BASIS The question of obtaining additional surgical instruments for the Memorial Hospital, Hastings, has engaged the attention of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board, which at its February meeting endorsed a list prepared by the Medical Su)Omtendent and forwarded to tho Department for approval. Yesterday the board was advised by the Director-Gen-eral of Health that the list would have to bo further revised on account of it having been estimated on a bos pital containing 40 beds. The letter, which was referred to the Hastings committee, read as follows: — “I am in receipt of your letter of the 14th. instant forwarding copy of a report by the medical superintendent in connection with the proposed purchase of additional surgical instruments for the Hastings Memorial Hospital. It is desired to point out that the medical superintendent recommendations are based on the provision of 40 to 50 beds, whereas, as pointed out in a recent letter, your board has not yet complied with tho prescribed conditions enabling it to make extensive additions to the Hastings Hospital. dt is suggested, therefore, that . the list bo again revised.”
