SOUTHLAND SALE Good Demand for Fine Sorts VALUES MAINTAINED By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 31. The first wool sale of the Invercargill series was held to-day, a catalogue of over 30,000 bales being offered to a full and representative bench of buyers, including Bradford, Continental and Japanese. The halfbred and fine crossbred values obtained at the recent Christchurch sale were fully maintained Medium crossbreds in the opening catalogue showed a slight easing from par to }d per lb., while very coarse grades of crossbred ewe were easier, in some eases to the extent of 4'l per lb. As the sale advanced, however, lower grades of crossbred wool particularly appeared to improve in value. The range of prices was as follows: Merino-— d. d.
