SPAINS TOBACCO KING After 18 Months Waiting Trial SENSATION IN MADRID (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 4, 11.30 a.m.) MADRID, Nov. 3. Juan March, Spain’s tobacco king, who is very wealth, has been in gaol at Alaeal de Henares lor 18 mouths awaiting trial on a charge of obtaining a Moroccan tobacco monopoly by bribery during the monarchist regime. March continued to conduct his huge business from an office in the prison. Ho had his own chef to cook his meals. Warders to-day discovered that March had escaped. Two warders have been arrested, it being alleged that they permitted his escape. The commission thus far has failed to substantiate the charges. The news of the escape caused a sensation in Madrid. The Premier immediately announced that severe measures would he taken against those directly and indirectly responsible for the escape.
