AUCKLAND SPRING MEETING

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. MITCHELSON CUP. Good fields are engaged at the Auckland spring meeting, which opens tomorrow, and the racing promises to ho first-class.

Not a very brilliant lot, with perhaps exception of the top weight, and as he has not raced recently may be in want of a public pipe-opener. Wee Pat, Mahkill and Riotous may be tho bust backed.

Sea box wou a maiden event at Waverley, and is a very promising sort. Alignment has speed, but so far seven furlongs has been just a little too far. Spiral needs to improve on Wellington form- Tavern Knight goes fast. Porotiti may prsfer the sprint. King Musk has recent winning form. Gataloguo has no form. Solomon is a fair sort. D'Artagnan was second at Avondale. Gay Sheila won at Avondale in a decisive manner. Palm Queen and Musquil read the best of the remainder. Most money may bo invested on Cay Sheila, Sea Fox and D’Artagnan.

Tradesman will have many friends. [’Allegro is better over a mile. Porotiti has a little more than he is entitled to, but at a pound less Puss Moth cannot but appeal. Refresher has not yet struck form, with Pomp a hard horse to follow. Hampton Park goes very fast. Exaggeration is galloping so well that the Lnculi’is mare will entice heavy backing. United and Quietly are two hacks. Exaggeration, Puss Moth and Tradesman may bo the favourites.

View Halloo is a good ’un, but twelve furlongs may be too far for him. King's Knave has just won three races on end. Havering is a possibility despite no recent form. Speedmint is a good mare that should run out a solid mile and a half. AU Humbug may be beaten by the extra two furlongs. Red Sun has won twive over this distance. Ho won the A.R.C. Handicap last summer. Carfex is galloping so well that ho is in keen demand. Prince Vai won tho other day over a shorter course. Royal Artist won this race last season. King March's disappointments are many. Desert Star is a possibility on last season’s form. Baroscope won both days at Waikato last week. Free Air and Allegretto are two that cannot bo ignored. Speedmint, Carfex and Reo Sun may bo Hie favourites. HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE.

Greek Gohl is galloping so well tlfiit Mr Impey’s nomination is sure to bo in keen demand. All Humbug, if reserved for this went, will lie in demand. Chief Cook, on Avondale form, appeals. King’s Archer won the other day. Kiltuw.'n is galloping well. Aga Khan may not bo brilliant enough. Whakupara m on the improve. Prolyxo e»« I’iond the other day Qay Mari-

gold, if nut started in tbo previous race, may prove tl><> best of Ilie remainder. Greek Gold, Chief Cook and PrtMyxo may b' the favourite'
