GRASSLAND ASSOCIATION
A THREE DAYS’ CONFERENCE WIDE RANGE OF DISCUSSION CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 17. The conference of the New Zealand Grassland Association, which has been sitting for the past three days, concluded to-day. Papers have been read by scientific experts, by farming experts and by business men interested in various aspects of grassland farming, and these have covered a wide field of inquiry and experiment of many aspects of pasture growth and management. Other related papers which have been discussed in the papers read w'ere the certification of seed and the possibility of marketing grass seed abroad under certification. To-day the annual meeting was held. It was decided to recommend to the Minister of Agriculture that a full investigation be made in to the position of certified seeds in the farm economy of New Zealand. The following officers were elected: President, Mr A. H. Cockayne; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. P. Connell; general committee, Professor W. Riddet, Dr. F. W. Hilgendorf, Dr.. H. Askew, Messrs P. S. Smallfield, G. A. Holmes, J. W. Hadfield, R. B. Tennent, A. W. Hudson, F. R. Callaghan and E. Bruce Levy aud the president and secretary.
