NOCTURNAL RAID JEWISH LAWYER FOUND SHOT. BODY RIDDLED WITH BULLETS. (“Times” Cable.) (Received 1, 1.45 p.m.) BERLIN, April 12. Men in Nazi uniform at Chemnity made a nocturnal raid on the home of Dr. Weimer, a well-known Jewish lawyer who served with distinction in the war, produced a warrant for his arrest and removed him in a motor car. His bullet-riddled body ’ was later found in the country. The police declare that the warrant was fictitious. An imprisoned Communist, Zitau, was shot dead by a Nazi “while attempting to escape.” ARREST OF ENGLISHMAN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 13, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, April 12. Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Sir John Simon said that an Englishman, Geoffrey Fraser, was arrested in Berlin on April 4 because he was in possession of Communist documents, including matter relating to subversive propaganda and untrue statements regarding atrocities in Germany. He was further suspected of the intention of spreading these untrue reports amongst the German army and police. The final indictment had not yet been drawn up. Arrangements had been made for the British consul to visit Fraser to-morrow. Fraser had received every consideration at the hands of the police and is reported to be in good health.
