HAVELOCK NORTH

NEWS AND NOTES. FARM LANDS ROLL PREPARED. At the January meeting of the Havelock North Town Board an application was received for a farm lands roll to be prepared, provision for this having been made in the new Farm Lands Act. This roll has now been made up and a special meeting of the board will be held on Monday afternoon to finalise it. OVERHANGING HEDGES. Several notices have been issued by the Town Board to properly owners whose hedges are overhanging' the footpath, but. in some instances these have been disregarded and the hedges remain a danger to pedestrians. Last evening a Havelock resident, whilst walking along the footpath on the Hastings road from the bridge to the village, was scratched on the face by twigs from a boxthorn hedge, but fortunately not seriously. Hedges of this kind, when not trimmed back, are a menace to pedestrians and property owners should endeavour to keep them well under control. CYCLING ON FOOTPATHS. Some few weeks ago fl»e traffic inspector in Havelock caught over three

dozen cyclists in one hour who were cycling on footpaths and due warnings were issued The practice, although having diminished, is still being carried on to some extent, and those cyclists who still persist in using the footpath are looking for trouble, as a prosecution will follow if the offender is caught.
