REDUCTION IN TARIFFS
PROPOSALS FOR WORLD CONFERENCE. MOTION IN COMMONS REJECTED. (Received 17, 10.50 a.m.) London, March 16. The House of Commons, by 203 votes to 58 rejected Mr H. Graham White’s motion urging the Government to sub. mit to the World Economic Conference proposals for an all-round reduction in tariffs and the removal of other restrictions to trade; also to initiate the formation of a group of free-trade or low tariff countries and arrange the necessary modifications in most-favour, ed nation treaties.
