U.S. TARIFF SYSTEM
ONE OF “COMMON DECENCY.” PEOPLE TIRED OF PRESENT POLICY. Washington, March 15. Attacking the present United States tariff system, the Secretary of Commerce, Mr Roper, on Tuesday night advocated a tariff policy “of common sense and common decency ’ ’ to other nations. “There are honest differences of opinion as to tariff policies, but I believe that the overwhelming majority of people in America have unmistakeably shown that they are tired of a policy that has antagonised every other nation in the world,’’ ho declared.
