EVEREST EXPEDITION
ALTITUDE TEST IN 'PLANE. 34,000 FEET LN 90 MINUTES. (“Times” Cable; Copyright.) (Received 16. 12.10 p.m.) Karachi, March 15. Mr Maclntyre, accompanied by the chief cinematographer of the Everest Expedition, Mr Bonnet, made an altitude test in the Westland-Wallace ’plane and reached 34,000 feet in 90 minutes. Mr Bonnet experimented in photography with his head outside the cockpit but quickly found conditions impossible. The wind penetrated his oxygen mask, dispersing the oxygen and making him feel ill. The temperature was 45 degrees below zero.
