TRAGIC FIRE IN MATCH FACTORY
SIX GIRLS BURNED TO DEATH. TWELVE IN HOSPITAL. (Received 16, 11.30 a.m.) Quebec, March 15. Six girls were burned to death at Hull when the Canada match factory was gutted by fire following an explosion to-day. It is variously reported that from three to eight are missing. ,
Roaring up from the mixing tank, the explosion caught 15 girls and in a few minutes the building was a mass of flames. Twelve girls are in hospital. The danger of the fire spreading had vanished by noon.
