Dr. T. D. M. Stout has been re-elect-ed chairman of the council of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, and Dr. G. F. V. Anson honorary general secretary. Miss Mary Skerrett, sister of the late Sir Charles Skerrett, former Chief Justice of New Zealand, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Rangitane from London. Miss Skerrett, who now lives at Bexhill-on-Sea, on the South Coast of England, will be in New Zealand about a month before returning. Captain A. C. Clayton, late of the Royal Sussex Regiment, arrived from Home by the Rangitane yesterday. Ho is an Aucklander, and has been away from the Dominion since 1914. Captain Clayton was stationed on the Indian frontier in the Peshawar district until eighteen months ago, when he retired from the Army. Mr. Joseph Salmon, of Lyons and Co., Ltd., London, the well-known catering firm, accompanied by Mrs. Salmon and their son, arrived by the Rangitane from London yesterday, on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Leo C. Rothschild, Wellington. Mrs. Salmon, who is a sister of Mrs Rothschild, was formerly Miss Rao Mandel, and has been absent from New Zealand for 22 years.
A Wanganui telegram reports the' death of Mr Louis Cohen, aged 70, a barrister and solicitor. Up was Wellknown throughout the Dominion, and had a notable career as a patron of arts and amateur sport. He Whs a foundation member of Ilin Art Society Association and was prominent in orchestral and vocal music circles. He was a past president of the North Island Brass Bands' Association.
