| COUNTY’S HEAVY BURDEN. 83000 TO BE PAID ON ACCOUNT. The question of the payment of hospital levies was further considered by the Hawke's Bay County Council today, the proceedings being taken in committee. It was later announced that it had been decided to pay the siyn of £3OOO towards the amount due for levies. Prior to going into committee Cr. C. Lassen had informed the council that the fees being written off by the Hospital Board for the month of Februarv showed that £1626 had been incurred by the people of Napier, £1827 byHastings, while from the county the •mount was only £7lO. Cr. Lassen pointed out that the county was paying in hospital levies more than the two towns together, while the fees written off in the county were only half the amount owed by either of the boroughs. The chairman. Mr. F. B. Logan, said it made members realise that the county was paying a much greater contribution than it should have to pay.
