CHURCH SERVICES

At St. Matthew’s Church there will be celebrations of the Holy Communion at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and also at 9.30 a.m., with hymns and address, also at 7.30 a.m. at Mahora School. Matins and sermon will be at 11 a.m.; the Bev. C. Tanner will preach. Evensong will be said in the chapel at 5 p.m. and there will be a service at the hospital at 6 p.m. and at Park vale at 7 p.m. In the evening at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew’s there will be a special service for Lent self-surrender, including intercessions, and metrical Litany, conducted by the vicar, who will also give an address on “God’s Power Within Us.' ’ The choir will sing unaccompanied Sir John Stainer’s beautiful setting of the best known verse of the Now Testament, “God so loved the world.” St. John 111., 16. Self denial offerings are for missions and reduction of the Parish debt. Junior and senior St. Matthew’s Boys’ Bible Classes meet at 2 p.m. and other classes and Sunday schools at the usual hours at St. Matthew’s, Mahora and Parkvale.

The quarterly Communion service will be held in St. Andrew '» Church, Hastings, to-morrow morning, and a supplementary Communion service to follow the evening service. The evening address will be: “Should every man’s work be thought of as a Divine Vocation?” Retiring offertories for Benevolent Fund. Preacher: Bev. D. J. A. Shaw. Evening service relayed to St. John’s Hall at Mahora.

Harvest Festival services will be conducted at the Hastings Methodist Church (corner Heretaunga and Hastings streets) at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow. The preachers for the day will be: 11 a.m. Rev. A. H. Scrivin; subject, “The Ark in the Harvest Field.” 7 p.m., Rev. D. C. Alley. Special Harvest Festival hymns and music will be rendered, the anthems being: Morning, “He Watcreth the Hill”; evening, “Ye Shall Dwell in the Land,” and “Make a Joyful Noise.” Soloists: Miss Mae Cunnold, -and Mr. G. L. Darvcll. Come and thank God for the harvest. Bible Classes, 9.45 a.m. Sunday School, 2.30 p.m.

The Rev. C. 11. Matthews, from Palmerston North, will be the speaker at both services in the Hastings Baptist Church, Knramu road south, to morrow. Mr. Matthews will also address the Bible Classes in the afternoon at 2.30. On Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the Church Hall a lantern lecture on Egypt will be given by Mr. Alex Mill (generul secretary of the Egypt General Mission). A hearty invitation is extended to all who arc interested.

The services in the Havelock North Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. It- Waugh morning and evening at Havelock and afternoon at Clive. At the evening service at Clive Miss Wood and Mr. Fulton will give an account of the summer Bible Class camp at New Plymouth.
