MEETING AT CHRISTCHURCH. SHARPLEY WINS A HEAT. Christchurch, March 10. The New Zealand amateur athletic championship meeting opened at Lancaster Park this afternoon in brilliant aunshine. The track was fast, but a north-east breeze blowing across the ground hindered sprinters. Results:— One mile.—J. G. Barnes (Otago) 1, J. W. Savidan (Auckland) 2, A. D. Kane (Canterbury) 3.
