WAIPUKURAU
NEWS AND NOTES. From Our Own Correspondent. Returns of business transacted at the Waipukurau Railway station for the four weeks ended March 4, with the figures for the corresponding period last year in parentheses are as follow: —Outward: Passengers, 2176 (2324); cattle, 338 (109); sheep, 54,927 (28,327); goods, 298 tons (206 tons); revenue, £2041 (£1402). Inward: Cattle, 197 (72); sheep, 2073 (13,970); goods. 587 tons (709 tons); timber, — (16,600 feet); revenue, £1143 (£1692). Miss B. Tully, Takapau road, has returned to Waipukurau from a holiday spent in Rotorua. Mr A. R. Joy, a member of the Waipukurau railway staff, is at present a patient in the Public Hospital. Mrs S. Warberton, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mr ami Mrs P. F. Wall, Hatunia. Mrs Warberton, with her husband, leaves for England early in April. Mrs Barton, of Wanganui, is staying with her daughter, Mrs J. D. Todd, Mt. Herbert. Mr and Mrs N. Nelson, who have been residing in Waipukurau for the past few years, left for Wellington yesterday, where they will take up their future lime.
