DEATH OF A FATHER
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES FAILS. Westport, March 6. In a claim for £5OO damages against the Westport Stockton Coal Co., brought by Miss Olive Parrish on behalf of a 16-year-old brother in the Supreme Court before Mr Justice Reed and jury, arising out of the death of James Parrish, the jury brought in a verdict for the defendant company. The Parrish family lived at Hector, and on July 2, 1931, defendant company were extending a system on wire cables on 20ft. poles. The Parrish house was near the corner post, and deceased, James Parrish, father of plaintiff, was walking out of his home when the cable fell under the strain and he was hit on the back of the neck, being thrown violently to the ground into a ditch, death subsequent, ly taking place.
