BARTER AGREEMENT DENIED MR. BENNETT’S INDIGNATION. UNWARRANTED PUBLICATIONS. (Received 30, 11.30 a.m.) Montreal, Dec. 29. The Hon. R. B. Bennett denied all knowledge of the projected barter agreement between Canada and Russia when he passed through Montreal today en route to Ottawa. “I have read the report that plans are under way for a barter agreement between Canada and Russia,” he said. ‘‘lf that ia so then it has been projected without my knowledge.” When Mr. Bennett’s attention was drawn to the criticism of such proposal in the English Press he retorted: ‘‘Canada damages herself abroad by cabling false reports and information that is entirely unfounded. That is the trouble with this country. I say again that if there has been any agreement then I have no knowledge of it, and 1 cannot discuss it until I have conferred with my colleagues.”
Mr. Bennett arrived in New York yesterday from England.
