G.N. DEBBY TO INDIANAPOLIS. GARNER WINS THE EPSOM.' Auckland, Dec. 29. The second day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting was held in perfect weather and before a good attendance. The totalisator handled £20,353, compared with £26,997 last year, a decrease of £6654. Late results :— GREAT NORTHERN DERBY. 2 Indianapolis (McDermitt) .. .. 1 I Taxpayer (Mourity) 2 3 Golden Direct (A. Holmes) <. ~ 3 Taxpayer led for a mile. Indianapolis easing up by a length and a half, with Golden Direct two and a half lengths away. Time, 3.26. Dominion Handicap.—4 Dan Direct (Newdick) 1, 7 Llandore (McGarr) 2, 5 Oliver Thorpe (Willett) 3. Also ran: 8 Lady Yvonne, 9 Master Huia, 6 Modern Light, 1 Chenaway, IQ Dad’s Hope, 2 Our Peter, 3 Baron Bingen. Master Huia led till the straight, When Dan Direct came on fast to win by a length and a half, with Oliver Thorpe half a length behind. Glandore and Master Huia fell away. Time, 3.19. Epsom Handicap.—l Garner (McDermott) 1, 10 Dark McKinney (Kennerly) 2,2 Bessie Parrish (Paul) 3. Also ran: 7 Blue and Gold, 5 El Merit, 8 Hardy Grattan, 3 Billy Carbine, 4 Mako Girl, 9 Carl Mack, 6 Windchat, II Explosion. Garner followed up Hardy Grattan and Blue and Gold until in the straight she camo through easily to win by a length and a half. Bessie Parrish was half a length behind. Time, 3.31 2-5.
Ranfurly Handicap.—9 Brent Zolock (Hughes) 1, 3 Kewpie’s Triumph (Gee) 2,2 Carnui (F. J. Smith) 3. Also rant 3 Country King, 11 Purser, 8 Around, 1 Grand Canyon, 6 Harvest Child, 7 Mountain Ore, 5 Kewpie’s Guy, 10 Nelson Tasker.. The winner led easily throughout and won by throe lengths) with Carnui a neek behind Kewpie’p Triumph. Time, 2.43 1-5. Innovation Handicap.—4 Native Berry (McMillan) 1,1 Pegaway (F. J; Smith) 2, 5 Whippet (Maidens) 3. Also ran: 8 Nathaniel, 10 Bey De Quest, 9 Ralfe Audubon, 7 Sandy Pointer,' 2 Winshow, 11 Bell Dial, 6 Homeward, 12 Hohoro, 3 Flying Cloud. Won by a length and a half, third back threequarters of a length. Time, 2.47 3-5. :
