Southern Cricket Tour.

The sum of £9O has now been collected by the sub-committee of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association to defray the expenses of the southern tour of the Hawke’s Bay representatives. The balance still required is approximately £3O and this sum is hoped to be obtained in the course of the next few weeks. A shop day is to be held in Napier on November 19, when a large amount of produce donated by country enthusiasts will be offered for sale. The secretary of the association, Mr M. MacLeod, has received a letter from the New Zealand Cricket Council sanctioning the tour. The team will leave Napier on November 28 and return on December 12. During the past two days two big loads of stolen goods, one of clothing and one of general merchandise, valued in all at £4OO, have been recovered by the Christchurch police. Four arrests were made yesterday. Two of the mon were in respect of the stolen clothing and two in respect of the merchandise.
