ABERDEEN-ANGUS BULL SALE

ESTATE OF A. I. G. CARLYON. TOP PRICE 55 GUINEAS. .’The annual Aberdeen-Angus bull sale, on account of the Estate of A. S. G. Carlyon, was held to-day on their Koparekore property, Te Hauke. The sale was conducted by Messrs. Williams & Kettle, Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd. in conjunction, when 40 lots were submitted to auction, comprising over 30 two-year bulls, and aged bulls up to six years old. Gwavas Station’s Aberdeen-Angus herd is one of the best known in the Dominion, and this year’s offering was one of the best that they have submitted. The bulls were in excellent condition, well handled, and very quiet, a testimonial to the person m charge of the stud. The highest price, 55 guineas, was paid by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd. as agent for a New South Wales client. This bull was aptly described by the auctioneer as being an acquisition to any purebred herd. All the bulls were sold at the hammer, in many instances at extremely low values. Prior to the commencement of the sale it was announced that Mr. D. Grant, of Dannevirke, would be making purchases of a few bulls on behalf of Gwavas Station, as their whole annual draft was being submitted without exception.
