JUVENILES GIVEN BARRIER PRACTICE. The weather was beautifully fine on Tuesday morning for training at Ellerslie, and the rain which fell on Monday had a beneficial effect on the tracks (states the “Star”). No. 1 grass, with the poles 6ft. out, was open for fast work, and the going was excellent. Several juveniles and maidens were given barrier practice,, and they all shaped satisfactorily. Mahkill and Gay Broney were first out, and were given an easy task over six furlongs. They ran the first three in 43 3-ssec, and the full distance in 1.23 1-5. Both horses worked well. Karangapai war going comfortably alongside Hunting March at the conclusion of five furlongs run in 1.6 1-5. Karangapai is coming on fast and will be in good order for his spring engagements. Llanore got to the end of four furlongs in 51 4-ssec, and Norval Tea was timed to cover three furlongs in 40 l-ssec. This was the best of the morning over the distance, and Glenromney did his work impressively. ‘ Among the horses schooled at the 1 barrier were Wee Pat, Barn Dance, Bright Flower, Demylus, My Money, Supreme Ruler Glenhaupo, Ornamental, Brampton. Chief Emerald, and the Kilbroney—Miss Hazel gelding. They jumped out well, and ran three furlongs in 39 2-ssec, and were timed to reach the half-mile post in 53 l-ssec, being eased up slightly over the last bit. Brampton, Chief Emerald, and the Kilbroney gelding practically took no part in the sprint, being eased up before traversing a furlong. Others to do useful work were: On Approval, Sir Vai, Zane Grey, Wee Musk, Croupier. .Operatic, Lady Winifrede, Sister Em, Queen Arausio, and Roman Mascot.
