HUGE INCREASE IN KILLINGS. COMPARATIVE FIGURES. New records in killings and exports were made in the frozen meat trade during the 1931-32 season. The killings of mutton and iamb totalled 11,677,749 carcases during the twelve months ended September 30,1932. Lambs at 8,804,889 carcases show an increase of 1,021,361 carcases over the 1930-31 season, and mutton at 2,872,860 carcases, an increase of 740,328. Following is a detailed comparison of the killings for the two seasons: —

HEAVY SEPTEMBER SHIPMENTS. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised by cable from its London office that the shipments from Australia and South America, to the United Kingdom during September were as follow -.—Australia: Carcases mutton, 31,250; carcases lamb, 565,700; quarters beef, 69,836. South America: Carcases mutton, 35,880; carcases lamb, 140,353; quarters beef (frozen), 1132; (chilled), 415,313. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follow:—New Zealand: Carcase* mutton, 208,594; carcases lamb, 364,218; quarters beef, 12,814. The shipments from South America to the Continent of Europe during the same period were as follow:—Mutton, 10 tons; frozen beef, 176 tons. N.Z. MEAT IN LONDON. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has been advised by its London manager, that the following retail price* were quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London during September, 1932.
