BOUNDING BASQUE JUSTIFIES THE Na ME. A record crowd witnessed two sensational matches played amid almost ungovernable uproar. Borotra, the veteran, meeting a youngster noted for virility and lightning speed, found his form greater than even his compatriots hoped. He took the services and drives which defeated every opponent at Wimbledon, exhibited wonderful court craft ana showed enough of his inimitable dash and fireworks to disturb the American’s equanimity and spoil his winning touch. Vines was obviously nervous and twice double-faulted in critical games. The second and third sets were played with terrific speed, Borotra refreshed after the rest, revealed fresh wonders of strategy, and with victory in sight appeared inspired in his spectacular returns.
