ENGLISH TEST TEAM. SEVEN MOKE CHOSEN. London, July 29. It is officially announced that Kobins, Brown, Wyatt, Pataudi, Allen, Larwood and Voce have been invited to go to Australia, making a total of 13. Three others will be announced later. The capacity of th eside might be summarised as: Powerful in batting and fielding, wicket-keeping somewhat problematical, but potentially good; bowling sound and orthodox if there is uninspiring leadership. Pataudi, Wyatt, Allen, Voce; Brown and Kobins are unknown on Australian grounds. Brown, aged 21, strongly built, cheerful and red haired, is temperamentally suitable for big cricket. There could never be much doubt as to Pataudi’s selection on the grounds of sheer merit, but there is a sentimental objection to two Indians in a team that is over-ridden by the slender Nawab’s great batting form. The choice of Allen is very wise, especially in view of his hostile bowling, good batting and fielding, also Larwood’s liability to a breakdown. Already there are seven amateurs picked and there may still be another.

HOBBS NOT RETIRING. FEELS FIT FOR 1933. London, July 29. Hobbs, who is 50 in December, has postponed his retirement from firstclass cricket. He has already scored 1,392 runs in the season, and feels fit. He says he hopes to play for Surrey again in 1933.
