HASTINGS FIRE STATION
REBUILDING ARRANGED. Matters concerning the rebuilding of tho Hastings Fire Station have now been practically completed, and the building will be commenced as soon as the official notice has been received from the Local Government Loans Board. The Mayor (Mr G. F. Roach) returned last night from Wellington, where, in addition to leading a deputation to the Hon. A. Hamilton concerning unemployment matters, he also attended to business in connection with the rebuilding of the fire station. Mr Roach stated that the receipt of the required notice from the Loans Board would mean that the building of the fire station, superintendent’s residence and two houses for married firemen would be able to proceed. With three married men living adjacent to the station and five or six single men the borough would have a permanent brigade on a volunteer basis.
