Milan: Kuwahara (Japan) heat Palmieri (Italy) 6—o, 6 —2, I—6,1 —6, 6—3; Stefa:’ : (Italy) beat Satoh (Japan) 6—3, 3—4, 6—4. I.OPMAN BEATS LACOSTE. CUP TRIAL GAMES.. (Received, 9, 12.45 p.m.) Paris, July 8. In the tennis tourney between Australia and France Hopman beat La Coste 6 —2, 6—2, Ferer beat Sproule 6—3, 6 —l; Merlin beat Clenrenger 6—4 B—6. In the doubles Crawford and Hopman beat Cochet and Merlif 6—4, 7—5. La Coste was only a shadow of his former greatness. He had lost the sting in his backhand and his length was uncertain.
