LONDON WOOL SALES
DEMAND FOR MERINOS. CROSSBRED 5 PEE CENT. ABOVE OPENING. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 9.10.35 a.m.) London, July 8. At the wool sales, 10,646 bales were offered, including 2870 New Zealand. About 5050 were sold. There was strong Home and foreign competition, the best Merinos tending in sellers’ favour. Crossbreds were five per cent, above the opening rates. New Zealand prices: Greasy crossbreds, M, top 7*)d, average 6)d.
Murray, Roberts and Co. Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London House: —“Sales continue with a good tone. Competition keen. Greasy Merino, and Xbred greasy, market shows a hardening tendency. Xbred scoured, compared with last London sales’ closing rates, advanced 5 to 10 per cent.”
