CLUB GAMES CONTINUED HASTINGS SECTION. HASTINGS 0.8. v. CELTIC. In the only junior grade game played at Nelson Park. Hastings Old Boys, the competition leaders, had little difficulty in defeating Celtic. Kenouf opened the scoring with a try, then Apsey crossed in a handy position for Collinge to convert. Later Prior scrambled across for a try. making the score 11 —0 at the interval. After changing over, Old Boys continued to show superiority, though the Greens hung on tenaciously. Rosenberg increased the scoring with a good try • then Apsey scored his second set of three points. Renouf put the finishing touches on the call of time, the final count being: Hastings 0.8. 20, Celtic 0. Mr A. Kirkpatrick refereed. HAVELOCK (17) v. HASTINGS (8). The game between Havelock and Hastings was played at Havelock, there being a good attendance of spectators, and in spite of a very slippery ball a good game was witnessed. The game was principally a forward one, Haveluck having the better of the first spell. C. JoU opened the score for Havelock with a free kick from the twenty-five line, and shortly afterwards he added another three points from about 35 yards out. Havelock continued to press, and from a forward ruck L. Cooper forced his way through for Plummer to score. Joll failed with the kick. After more up and down play, from a fast follow up, Gloyn scored a brilliant try under the posts, Mollison converting. Half-time saw the score at 14 —nil in favour of Havelock.

Early in the second spell, after continual pressing, McDonald scored for Havelock. Joll failed to convert. During the last 15 minutes Havelock tired considerably, with the result that Burnett scored for Hastings and converted hi* own try. A few minutes later Nelson crossed for Hastings, but failed to convart his try. Havelock unsuccessfully rallied at the last and the final whistle went with the score: Havelock 17, Hastings 8. Mr. W. NAPIER SECTION. HIGH SCHOOL (8) v. PIRATES (6). In a match which commenced In a. patchy manner, but which brightened up as the game progressed, High School drew with Pirates—six all. For School, Dick and Parker scored an unconverted try each, while Pirates’ points were raised from two penalty goals, one kicked by Sinclair and the other by Foote. Mr S. Hunt refereed. TECHNICAL OLD BOA'S (14) v. WESTBHOBE (0). Technical Old Boys had no difficulty in defeating Westshore, the final score reading 14 to nil. In spite of the muddy conditions, the game was a fast one, play being forwards. For Technical Old Boys, tries were scored by Jorgensen, Blair and Le Bas, while Lyons kicked a penalty goal and converted one try. Mr V. Batchelor refereed. M. 8.0.8. (14) v. TARADALE (12). After a fast and gruelling game, played at Taradale, Marists defeated Taradale by 14 points to 12 In the first stages of the game, Marists looked like winning easily, but when the score was 11 to nil against them, Taradale asserted themselves and gave a fine display. Mr L. Cleary refereed. CLIVE (10) v. H. 5.0.8. (0). Enthusiasts at Clive wore treated to an interesting gamo when the homesters defeats! H. 8.0.8. by 10 points to nil. The match was a good one, the greater part of the play being confined to the forwards. For Clive Caldwell anj Smith scored one try each, while Griffiths drop-kicked a goal. Mr W. Forrest refereed. THIRD GRADE. TJK HASTINGS SECTION. Havelock North drew with Hastings Old Boys (holders) 6—6 in a SachsJohnston Shield challenge match. High School defeated Celtic 6 —5. NAPIER SECTION. M. 8.0.8. 8 v. Clive 0. H. 5.0.8. beat Taradale by default. Tech. 0.8., a bye. •Add FOURTHS FOURTH GRADE. HASTINGS SECTION. Hastings Old Boys defeated High School A—o. Hastings defeated Havelock North ft-0.
