H.B. ASSOCIATION’S AFFAIRS FEES FOR NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. BUSINESS OF MEETING. The sixth annual general meeting othe Hawke’s Bay Basketball AssociaHon was held in Hastings. Almost! every club in the three sub-association* was represented. The annual report of the association slated:— “The number of teams showed a decrease owing to the disaster of February 3, but the standard of play was very high. Kiwis won the Napier Asso. ciation competitions, High School Old. Girls the Hastings, and Otane the Central Hawke’s Bay. In the play-oil Otane defeated Kiwis, and High School Old Girls defeated Otane, thus becoming Hawke’s Bay champions for 193 L We congratulate these three teams on their good play. “There were three executive meetings during the year and delegates from the sub-associations attended. Napier have since lost the services of their president, Miss V. Edser, and it is pleasing to note that she has interested herself in the Wairoa Association. Mr N. Hamilton, of Invercargill, has taken up his residence in Napier and we welcome him to the district . “An insurance fund was started by Napier and Hastings, with a subsidy of £5 from Hawke’s Bay, and we would be pleased to see Central Hawke’s Bay follow their lead, as such a fund is mostj necessary. FeOs for New Zealand Council. “The balance-sheet shows a credit; balance of £7O 13s 9d and this is very satisfactory considering that our payments exceeded our receipts. “Misses Law and Edser represented Hawke’s Bay at the New Zealand. Council held in Invercargill and presented a report. This year the tournament will be held at Invercargill and played in an A and B grade. If thi« association decide to send a team it will be in the A grade. “The N.Z. fees have been altered a« follows: 1 to 25 teams, £5; 26 to 50, £10; 51 to 75, £l5; 75 to 100, £2O. Thereafter there is a rise of £2 10s per 25 teams. ‘ ‘ Inter-association matches were played between Otane team and Rovers, and Napier and Convent Old Girls andt West End, of Hastings.” The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron-; ess, Mrs H. M. Campbell; president* Mrs 8. Nesbit; vice-presidents, Mrs; Maddison, Mrs Bridgeman, Miss Crumpton, Mr Wells; secretary, Mr J. Irwinc. Business of Meeting. The reports and balance-sheets of th» sub-associations were read, and reflect much credit on the various officers. Central Hawke’s Bay have a very difficult association to manage on account, of the scattered district, which extends, from Ongaonga and Tikokino, Waipukurau, Waipawa and Otane. All, teams have to travel sometimes many miles. Their retiring secretary, Mra Robinson, has done much to help th a game along, and her services have be.en, of great help to Hawke’s Bay. Such, an officer is difficult to replace.

It was decided that in future Hawke’s Bay would pay the travelling expenses of the team in quest of the Hawke’s Bay championship.

The decision to send a representative, team to Invercargill to take part in tha New Zealand tournament was decided by one vote. Some delegates were of the opinion that the expenses of the, team (which have to be paid by subassociations) would be too heavy. Others again thought that Hawke’s Bay should provide some of the money, but it was pointed out that Hawke’s Bay money was paid by all Hawke’s Bay girls and therefore should benefit alt players, not especially a representative, team.
