FIRE TRAGEDY
EXPLOSION IN APARTMENT HOUSE EIGHT KNOWN TO BE DEAD. SOME DRAMATIC ESCAPES. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 8. 10.55 a.m.) New York, Jan. 7. A Cleveland message states that eight are known to bo dead and two are missing as the result of an explosion and fire which swept a downtown apartment early to-day. Four bodies have been brought out and four others sighted by firemen. The fire chief believes that two more bodies are there. About 30 were burned or injured, while the rest of the 200 residents were saved in dramatic escapes.
