From Our Own Correspondent. A motor accident, fortunately not attended by injury to any of the persons concerned, occurred at the school corner in Waverley street shortly before 11 o’clock yesterday morning. Mr E. Turksma was motoring through to Wellington, and on approaching the corner, recognised as one of the most dangerous iu the district, he slowed down and sounded his horn to warn some children playing in the street. He apparently failed to see a car driven by Mr I. Harvey, coming down Kenilworth street. The bumper of Mr Turksma’s car struck Mr Harvey’s near the rear wheel, and swung it round, causing it to somersault twice. When it came to rest it was a sorry wreck, the upper part of the body, the wind screen and the bonnet having been damaged almost beyond repair. Mr Harvey escaped without a scratch. Mr Turksma’s car was only slightly damaged, and neither ho nor his two passengers sustained injury.
The annual meeting of the I’lunket Society was held yesterday afternoon in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mr Hunt (Mayor) presiding.
