AWATOTO STOP BANK
SAFETY MARGIN WANTED. MATTER TO BE ATTENDED TO. In connection with tho Awatoto stopbank the Napier Harbour Board to-day forwarded to the Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board a copy of its engineer’s report in which it was stated that a length of about four chains had settled to a maximum of ono foot. Tho report stated that the settlement had occurred where the bank crossed the cut made for sjltation purposes. It. was recommended that, the bank bo raised and widened so that the new tilling would provide an ample margin of safety against wave or surging action of the flood water. The point of settle ment was where such notion would be most, felt on the river side of the stop bank along this block The overseer of tho Rivers Board (Mr. P. Scullin) stated that the matter would he attended to as soon ns men were available. Tho board received the letter and decided to inform tho Harbour Board that attention would Im given the matter.
