The executive’s report disclosed that, notwithstanding the economic conditions, the finances of the district were in a thoroughly sound state, but it was stressed that it was essential for the incoming executive diligently to watch every item of expense during the coming year owing ft the heavy demands caused by sickness and distress, and the loss of revenue in interest.

Sick claims amounting to £2250, and funeral claims amounting to £750, had been met during the year, and maternity benefits totalled £354. The hall showed a much improved position for the year, and all expenses caused by the earthquake and alterations had been met out of revenue.

The report and balance-sheet was adopted, on the motion of Courts 6496 and 7082.

The juvenile report showed an increase both of membership and finances, delegates generally considering that every assistance should be given to the juveniles. Several improvements in procedure were discussed and left to the executive to carry out if possible.

The D.C.R., Bro. McViear, presented a P.D.C.R. collar and framed certificate to the 1.P.D.C.R., Bro. J. Frude.

P.D.C.R. Bro. Dowrick presented the District Shield to Court Rising Sun for gaining the highest percentage increase of membership for the year, Bro. Adams, C.R., briefly returning thanks. Courts 6551 and 9964 moved: “That the retiring D.C.R., Bro. F. N. McViear, be presented with a P.D.C.R. collar and framed certificate.” Severe! delegates warmly supported the motion, speaking of the conscientious manner in which Bro. McViear had carried out his duties, the motion being carried by acclamation.
