SECOND ROUND COMMENCES EPARAIMA SCORE GOOD 217 At Wanstead on Saturday Eparaima and Old Boya met in the second round of the Central Hawke’s Bay Cricket Sub-Association’s competitions. Batting first Old Boys were disposed of for 78, the players to show any form being de Vautier 29, and Drinkrow 14. Bowling for Eparaima Nelson captured six wickets for 30 and McLean four for 31. Eparaima put on a creditable total of 217, the principal contributors be iiig Canning 50, A. S. Wilder 38, R. P. Wilder 25, Nelson 23, Board 21, N P Wilder 18, Wilson 12, McLean 10. Old Boys tried no fewer than nine bowlers, the wickets being captured by Guy (three for 28), Crocker (two for 17), Rickey (two for 27). and Spencer (two for 30). For their second innings Old Boys have 16 for no wickets. FRIENDLY GAME. A friendly game was played at Waipukurau between Old Boys juniors and Waipawa seniors, the latter winning on tne vrst innings. Old Boys scored 100 runs of which Smales contributed 56 and Wallis 15. For Waipawa Hooper took six wickets, Knoblock two, and Curlev two. Waipawa compiled 149 (Curley 27, O'Halloran 27. Cosgrove 29. Ashby 23, Knoblock 20. Verran 10 not out). Smales and Wallis shared the bowling honours for Old Boys.
