PHAR LAP’S TRIP

LEAVING ABOUT CHRISTMAS TIME. San Francisco, Dec. 8. Mr. Davis, who transhipped at Honolulu from the Aorangi, has arrived here. He states that Phar Lap will 'leave Wellington about Christmas on the Monowai in charge of Mr. Woodcock. He asserted that he found justification m taking Phar Lap from Australia in the fact that the horse had beaten everything there, there was nothing else to do but to take him to America. “His trip to America is a gamble with the climate, water and other peculiar American conditions, but he is wonderfully good tempered, and easily adapts himself to conditions and circumstances. 1 have been away so long that I do not know just what American racing conditions are, but if I get as square deal here as I did in Australia 1 will be well pleased.’’ Mr. Davis stated that he was unable to consider further plans now and aoes not know whether Phar Lap v ill see Australia again. He admitted that there was a danger that the hoise would not become acclimatised, but he hoped to get him ready for the Agua Caliente Handicap in March.
