BOLTON TO CAY CREST. ASTON TAKES THE SPRINT. Woodville, Dec. 9. Fine weather prevailed for the first day of the Woodville meeting and the attendance was satisfactory. The principal event of the day was won comfortably by Gay Crest, while Aston accounted for the Glen Sprint. The totalisator handled £7520 as against £11,328 for the first day of the last summer meeting. Late results:— Bolton Handicap, of 125 sovs; 1$ mile.—l Dr. M. G. Louisson’s Gay Crest (H. Gray) 9.4 1,2 P. F. Campbell’s Compris (Jenkins) 8.11 2, 3 F. Ormond’s Pewa (A. E. Ellis) 7.5 3. Also ran. Full Mark 7.0, 4 Esteem 7.0. At the distance Gay Crest went to the front but was challenged by Compris. The favourite however had no 'ifficulty in shaking off the opposition and won comfortably by nearly a length, with the same distance second and third. Esteem was fourth. Time, 2.5 3.5.
