A BRIDGE PARK

FOR WOODFORD HOUSE CHAPEL REBUILDING FUND. On Friday last at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ tea-rooms, a very successful bridge party was held, this being organised by Mrs Noel Beamish in aid of the Woodford House chapel re building fund. A friendly and bright atmosphere made the evening particularly enjoyable, and everyone who came entered into the games with zest. The guests assembled in the lounge and conversed there before tho games began, Mr and Mrs Noel Beamish welcoming the visitors at the doorway Mrs Noel Beamish was wearing a very becoming frock of black georgette with a floral design in beige and green, and a green necklet, the little coat having soft fur on the short sleeves Miss Holland wore a smart black frock finely beaded in gold, with an embroidered Liberty tapestry coat in green and gold tones. Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., and Mi® Campbell were both present, the latter becomingly gowned in black with a bridge coat finished with a sable fur collar. Lady Nora Jellicoe, a distinguished visitor from England (who is a Woodford House old girl) was wearing a pretty ensemble of pastel tinted chiffon. Others from Woodford House included Miss Coulson, Miss Haniber, Miss Wilkins, Miss Perry, and Miss Dumbleton. Mrs McAlley looked very smart in black, with brilliants as ornaments. Near the door was a table laden with lovely flowers, vivid cacti and lilies, and the lounge had huge jars of pink flowers, carnations, lilies and delphiniums. The larger room was brightened by tall jars filled with branches of pink climbing roses. A savoury supper was served during the evening and this made a bright little interlude. The bridge prizes were won by Mrs Tripo and Mr. T. Meredith. Miss Murray, who assisted Mrs Beamish in arranging the games, was in a long graceful frock of black figured georgette Mr Noel Beamish and Mr. Eric Beamish were also both kept busy helping with the entertainment. Mason, a lace and chiffon ensemble in ulack and white; Mrs Bob Stead, attractive long frock in sapphire blue embossed georgette; Mrs F. K. baulkner, charming ensemble of black chiffon patterned in turquoise and cherry; Mr and Mrs Adam Bell, the latter in a black frock and a black beaded coat; Miss Hazel Bell, nattier blue georgette frock; Miss Joan Landels, black embossed frock and a cherry coloured coat; Miss B. Landels, flounced frock of r ose pink georgette; Miss Joan Evans, scarlet lace frock with a little bolero coatee; Dr. and Mrs Gerald Faulkner, the latter in an ivory frock, and a quaint ivory Chinese silk bridge coat painted with pink poppies; Miss Audrey McLeod, a long flounced dress of black floral chiffon with black tulle edging the flounces, Miss Fitzßoy, softly flared frock of pink floral chiffon with a little coatee; Miss Williams (England), smart black frock, with diamond ornaments; Mrs H. M. Bishop, model ensemble of black georgette very finely beaded; Mrs lan Hamilton, an original frock of ecru lace with rose embroideries, and a coatee of lace; Miss Haniber, an ensemble of deep powder blue georgette; Miss Perry, floral georgette ensemble in orange and beige with relief of orange on the coatee and deep hem; Miss Coulson, blue floral ensemble in gracefully flared lines; Mrs Romaine Wright, a striking black frock; Miss Ruth Scannell, long graceful frock of deep beige lave. Others included Mr and Mrs Forbes McHardy, Miss N McHardy, Mrs J. A. MacFarlane, lr and Mrs Maitland, Miss Hilda Williams, Mrs Cashmore, Mrs Jack Price, Mrs Caro, Mr and Mrs Ernest Couper, Miss Helen Coleman, Miss K. S. Williams, Miss Hope Bernau, Miss Sallie Williams, Mrs Howard Glazebrook, Mr and Mrs Moodie, Mr and Mrs Tripe, Mrs F. Donnelly, Mr D. W. Hursthouse, Mr and Mrs George Cotterill, Miss Ritchie, Mt and Mrs Meredith, Mrs Douglas Allen, Miss lole Hill, Mr and Mrs Sanderson, Mr. G. Sanderson, Miss Margot Russell.
